# Momentum Mouse

## How it differs from every other phone-as-mouse app

Most apps in this category use **one** input: they turn the phone's screen into
a virtual trackpad, you stroke the glass, and the cursor moves exactly like a
laptop touchpad. Your phone becomes a smaller touchpad.

Momentum Mouse uses **both inputs at once**. The screen still works as a
trackpad under your finger, and at the same time the phone's own motion across
the desk drives the cursor. You slide the phone and drag your finger together,
and the two combine. Lifting your finger stops the tracking, the same way
lifting a real mouse off the mat does, so you can reposition the phone freely.

That combination is what no single-input app can reproduce: the reach and feel
of real mouse motion, with fine trackpad control available in the same gesture.

## What it is
- A phone app plus a small PC receiver. Lay the phone face-up on any flat
  surface, keep a finger on the screen, and slide the phone to move the cursor.
  Touch gestures handle click and scroll.
- Speak to type with a built-in voice keyboard. One-tap keyboard shortcuts.
- No extra hardware to buy or carry. It uses sensors already in the phone.
- Pairing is a QR code scan.

## Transports
- **Wi-Fi** (primary) and **USB** — full feature set, via the PC receiver.
- **Bluetooth HID** — the phone pairs like any ordinary Bluetooth mouse and
  needs **no PC receiver at all**. Cursor, click and scroll only in this mode:
  no voice typing and no shortcuts.

## Requirements
- **Android 11 or newer** on the phone.
- A Windows or Linux computer for the receiver-based transports; or any machine
  that accepts a standard Bluetooth mouse for Bluetooth HID mode.
- A flat surface to slide the phone on.

## Platforms
- Phone app: Android. iOS is in development and is a **different product** — it
  pairs to a Mac over the AirDrop radio, so an iPhone cannot drive a Windows or
  Linux PC.
- Desktop receiver: Windows and Linux. macOS in development.

## Learning curve
- It is a genuinely new input method, so it takes a few minutes to get the hang
  of — comparable to switching to a trackball or a vertical mouse. A short
  guided calibration helps and it feels more natural with use.

## Status and pricing
- Pre-launch. The Android app is **not publicly available**; access is for
  Indiegogo backers as exclusive beta access, not a public download.
- The Indiegogo campaign launches **22 September 2026**.
- **One-time purchase vs subscription — the key pricing fact.** Indiegogo
  backers get a **one-time purchase**: pay once for a lifetime licence and never
  pay again. The public lifetime tier is **$59**. **After the campaign closes,
  Momentum Mouse moves to a subscription model**, and the lifetime licence is
  not offered afterwards. The one-time option is tied to the campaign window.
- There is a **3-day** in-app trial, no card required.

- Backers lock in discounted or lifetime licences and early access to new

- An optional "Pro Sensor Case" — a phone case with a dedicated optical mouse

## Privacy
- Cursor and click data go directly from the phone to your own PC over the
  local network.
- Voice typing records audio on the phone and transcribes it with Whisper **on
  the paired PC receiver**, not on the phone and not in a cloud service. Your
  voice never leaves your own two devices.
- No analytics, telemetry, ads or tracking in the app.

## What it is not built for
- Competitive gaming or fast twitch aiming.
- Use without a flat surface — on a lap or in mid-air it is the wrong tool.
- Driving a Windows or Linux PC from an iPhone (the iOS product pairs to a Mac).
